25 Sept 20 Fate of the Unarmed! “Who carried materials did their work with one hand, and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.” Nehemiah 4:16-18 In the UK (London), a long-serving police officer, who was unarmed, was murdered via gunfire yesterday. A suspect in custody, who had been arrested and supposedly searched, suddenly produced a revolver as he was being interrogated at police headquarters. The suspect was reported to have been handcuffed at the time. In front? Without hesitation, the suspect shot the officer and then immediately shot himself! The officer, shot in the chest, died within minutes at the scene. The suspect is hospitalized, in critical condition. The offense for which the suspect had been arrested was relatively minor (possession of illegal drugs) Those up the food-chain responded by saying such gunshot deaths of police officers are “rare!” Obviously not “rare” enough for this officer, and his family! When the “unarmed” belatedly discover they are members of an ever-shrinking minority, it’s time to “regroup,” maybe even admit that being unarmed, by choice, is not smart, and never was, … no matter what your profession, and no matter where you live! /John
