“Don’t bet your life on ‘generalities!'”
Ferris
Grizzly bears and wolves “generally” don’t like being in the same area as humans. By contrast, black bears and coyotes (like rats and wild pigs) have “adapted” to living close to, even among, humans.
Thus, the vast majority of harmful/lethal bear attacks on humans involve black bears, and are “predatory” in nature. “Experts” have tried to convince us that such lethal attacks involve bears suffering from “neurological disorders,” and that “normal” bears will not “generally” stalk, attack, kill, and eat human victims.
This typical woke nonsense is so common as to be cliché! Black bears who actively seek-out human victims to devour are assuredly not “mentally ill.” They’re just hungry! “Bear psychiatrists” consider this behavior “perfectly normal” for apex predators. And, experience has taught these “habituated bears” that humans are slow, unobservant, mostly defenseless, and tasty. Accordingly, “problem bears” are seldom impressed by yelling and screaming on the part of their intended victims!
To reiterate, “the common black bear” is a high-risk predator that actively hunts humans. Many among the naive find the foregoing “uncomfortable.” The sage nonetheless make appropriate mental adjustments. The shallow and self-centered, the willfully blind, bury their heads in the sand!
Western Colorado has been a hotbed of “high-friction human/bear contacts” this year. Nearly three-hundred chronic “problem bears” have been “euthanized” by F&W officials as a result, far in excess of the practice in past years. When there, keep-up with intel, go armed, and keep your head up. Predators frequently, and intuitively, sense the peril represented by other apex predators. So, we have to actually fill the roll of the apex predator that we are. This means carrying your tools, being observant, always having a plan for personal victory, no matter the challenge.
Many will suffer physical harm from bears yet this year, not to mention from human predators, and a host of other ills to which flesh is heir.
Willful blindness is for losers, soon to be among the “dearly departed.”
Death comes for us all, but let’s not die for stupid reasons!
