Dave Skinner, a very nice gentlemen who heads up an aggressively innovative company in Houston called STI International, was nice enough to send me a copy of their 40S&W carry pistol called the LS40.

I first saw the pistol a short while ago in Buffalo, NY sitting on the desk of my dear friend, Lou Alessi of Alessi Gunleather. I was a little embarrassed that I had not seen it before, as it is an extraordinarily attractive package.

The LS40 is a compact, EXTREMELY flat, carry pistol on the Colt/Browning pattern. It is definitely made for comfortable, daily carry. It is much flatter than most pistols I’ve used. Unlike conventional Colt/Browning pistols, the manual safety does not lock the slide into battery, so one can do a chamber check with manual safety on. Otherwise, the trigger is wonderful. Fit and finish is superlative.

We’re doing a Course here in Michigan this weekend. I’ll report back when I’ve had a chance to use it.
