From a friend in-country:
“The battle at an outpost on 03 Oct 2009 in Kamdesh, Afganistan produced the first two living Medal of Honor recipients, for the same action, since the end of the Vietnam War.
SSGT Clinton Romesha received the medal in Feb of 2013, and SSGT Ty Carter was awarded it this week on 26 Aug 2013.
SSGT Carter stated:
‘When good men are dying all around you, you have to decide what your last moments are going to be like.’”

I’m sure there are many others just as brave, who never received medals. They’re all heroes!
