Trapped!
Many American, Canadian, European, and Australian tourists are currently trapped in Mexico, unable to fly nor drive out, as ecumenical violence engulfs the entire country in the wake Mexican military forces (doubtless with US assistance) killing drug kingpin, Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes (AKA: “El Mencho”) of the “Jalisco” Cartel, which is involved in a host of violent criminal activity, in addition to illegal drugs.
Airports are closed, some overrun. Shooting, burning vehicles, burning houses, roadblocks, and random murders are reported throughout the country. Emergency personnel (police, fire, ambulance) are nowhere to be seen, and calling them is an exercise in futility. Mexico’s president has just fled to a naval vessel for her own safety.
After being cynically assured that Mexico is “perfectly safe,” panicked tourists have now been instructed to “shelter in place,” but provided with no additional advice, nor intelligence. And, with fire and toxic smoke spreading, continuing to “sheltering in place” may not be possible for many.
My comment: “Do not go to any part of Mexico” has represented good advice for at least the last three decades. The intelligent have heeded that warning. The foolish have not, and now they’re learning (the hard way) just how inadvisable and dangerous going to Mexico has become.
Mexico has submerged into civil war, and it is a genuine “shooting war,” as we see!
DJT just openly articulated what any DEA Special Agent will tell you: Criminal cartels are the “real government” in Mexico, and have been for some time.
“Protection” is mostly self-delusive fantasy, no matter where you are. There are no “safe places,” but going to Mexico is begging the question, as many among the naive are unhappily discovering right now!
