This just-in from friends in Norway:
“Following pressure from police unions and conservative groups, the Norwegian Parliament has finally decided that our police get to be personally armed, all the time.
Most political parties here are to the left of your Democrats, but hunting and national defense have always been important to Norwegians, especially with our proximity to ‘Putinville!’
Our police have intermittently been ‘temporarily armed,’ due to terrorist threats and our rapidly-escalating violent crime, particularly in Oslo, and committed almost exclusively by illegal immigrants (much as is the case in your country).
Some guns have always been assigned to specific patrol vehicles, but were not routinely carried by officers themselves.
That has now changed!
And in my little corner of Norway, I’m well-stocked, including my 1911s, 870, my Kongsberg rifle, and enough ammunition to keep me going for a while.
Like most among the prudent, I stay as far away from Oslo as I can!”
“A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined”
George Washington, First Annual Address to both Houses of Congress, 8 January 1790
