“40% of homicides go unsolved. It’s not a good record.
95% of ‘convictions’ come from plea bargaining, which is often coerced.
It’s as if we have the worst of both worlds:
We don’t convict the guilty enough, and we coerce the innocent too much!”

Knife Attacks!
>Last Saturday, a uniformed and armed Santa Monica, CA police officer was attacked and stabbed, all suddenly and unprovoked, just outside his department’s headquarters.
The single perpetrator used a knife he had just stolen from a local Target Store.
The officer, through seriously injured, still drew his pistol and immediately shot the perpetrator to death.
The officer’s injuries are grievous, but not life threatening.
>Yesterday, a single terrorist in Hadera (Israel) precipitously attacked and stabbed six innocent people, in four different locations, before he himself was shot to death by an armed citizen.
Three of the stabbing victims are still hospitalized and in serious condition. The other three were treated and released from the same hospital.
This is just the most recent of a number of terror/stabbing attacks upon civilians in Israel.
My comment:
Like it or not, the sage (LEOs and all others) need to be constantly in “Condition Yellow”
Many scoff at the idea of “sudden and unprovoked” personal attacks, where attacker(s) “jump out of the bushes,” without warning.
However, in our “Age of Terrorism,” it seems we’re entering a new phase of criminal behavior, eh?
For one, I’m convinced contributing to this open and blatant criminality are:
1) Our “No Consequences” criminal/justice system
2) Emptying of insane asylums and prisons
3) Our non-existent “borders”
4) A de-emphasis (at all levels) on “good citizenship”
None of the foregoing will improve any time soon.
The same violent criminals who attack police officers, also attack citizens, and citizens need to be able to repel, with lethal force, such attacks, in the same way police do!
And, as we see in both examples above, many of today’s homicidal maniacs are also suicidal and thus fully expect to be killed, and don’t care. Accordingly, many are not dissuaded by a “show of force” and will relentlessly press the attack until physically stopped.
“Through readiness and discipline, we are the masters of our fate.”
