From a friend in upstate NY:
“Last week, a local warehouse went up in flames. Thick smoke could be seen for many miles!
There was danger that the fire could expand and burn a quantity of toxic chemicals stored nearby. The result would have been a large volume of dangerously poisonous smoke.
Accordingly, local PDs and FDs issued several ‘Shelter-in-Place’ advisories to residents nearby, suggesting to them to stay indoors.
Bad advice, as it turns out!
The good news is that the toxic chemicals mentioned above were ultimately never involved. Bad news is that, had they been, being ‘inside’ would provide scant protection from toxic fumes!
As in the case of a hurricane or tornado, ‘shelter-in-place’ almost always represents a bad plan! Best advice is usually to get out of the area while you still can, no matter what anyone is ‘advising.’
It is thus a continuing source of mystery (at least to me) why ‘shelter-in-place’ is still the apparent unquestioned maxim during terrorists attacks! This, despite the fact that time and time again, we’ve seen that ‘lock-downs’ are tantamount to herding people into coffins!
During terrorist attacks, school shootings, etc, the best response is almost always to evacuate the area as quickly as you can, via whatever means are available. When that involves breaking windows, going through ‘restricted’ areas, and ignoring commands to stay put, do it without hesitation! And, you need to evacuate and separate immediately, even when others indicate they want to stay where they are. They’re on their own, as are you!
However, we’ve learned through painful experience that waiting in place to be ‘rescued’ usually amounts to suicide.”
Comment:
Emergency planners are as susceptible to malignant political agendas, as are doctors, and “scientists” who promote “global warming.” Political agendas are developed and promoted in order to benefit politicians, not you!
Never expect someone else to care about you more than you care about yourself!
