Here we go again, this time in TN:
Several members of our âunarmed forcesâ were gunned down this morning by a lone terrorist at a recruitment center in Chattanooga, TN.
Few details at present, but there is little doubt victims were selected because they were wearing US military uniforms.
Weâve already heard the standard condemnations and hand-wringing from the local mayor, et al.
Sadly, our so-called âadvancedâ society has devolved in 150 years to embrace an illogical state of mandatory disarmament and learned helplessness. Even our military personnel are now instructed that they should be fearful of guns, that all American gun-owners are âenemies of the state,â and that being feeble, helpless âgood victims,â (while, of course, maintaining a continuous state of personal defenselessness) represent their ultimate civil duties!
Contrary to adolescent expectations of foolish politicians, wars cannot be âturned on,â proceed predictably, then âturned off,â all on an arbitrary time-table. Once started, wars take-on an unconfined personality all their own, with unforeseeable implications, few of which will submit to naive wishes of the original instigators.
And, continuously denying youâre in a war doesnât make the War go away!
âLet us not pray to be sheltered from danger, but to be fearless when facing it.â
Rabindranath Tagore
