Some comments on the Force-on-Force exercises at the just-completed regional NTI:
Out of nine people, I observed six of them used the lateral movement
reflexively. It worked very well and looked good too. Two of the people actually
saved themselves by shooting and moving simultaneously; the shot(s) fired at the participants from the (bad guy) role player missed them by inches. The shots by the role player were potentially accurate, as I found the paint splotch on the wall directly behind where the participant had been. It is clear this tactic is well conceived and must be driven into the people. I think the display of the NTI shooters shows how well the skills have been integrated into their
reflex actions.
This is evidence that the move-and-draw tactic is good and that we should all be doing it routinely.
