Never give-in to adversity.

Never trust prosperity.

And, never fail to take full note of fortune’s irritating habit of doing exactly as she pleases!

“Positive Suspicion”

Who view life through a lens of positive suspicion, levelheaded skepticism, and who are ever infected with a “healthy restlessness,” are routinely denigrated as “paranoid” and “extremist” by those who blithely, unobservantly go through life without prudence, and insist everyone else do the same.

There is thus a continuous “push-and-pull” in our civilization, one of stark reality, and one manufactured fantasy

The later never have any kind of “functional plan” for emergencies.  When the emergency they’ve always refused to think about suddenly rears its ugly head and subsequently overwhelms them, paralyzed they suffer the unhappy consequences, all the while bleating, “This is so unfair!”

The former harbor a continual acceptance that ruin does not require our “permission” when it arbitrarily decides to appear, without warning.  We plan accordingly and realistically.  We call this attitude “Positive Suspicion”

Thus, we’re alert and aware.  We go armed.  We have trauma-kits, blades, OC, flashlights with us.  We train regularly.  We’re prepared to “hold-out” during periods of “societal disruption.”

“Positive Suspicion” does not describe any particular lifestyle, nor piece of equipment.  It’s a way of life, a personal attitude with regard to reality, reality that is often wonderful, but always rigorous, capricious, unforgiving, and unpredictable!

“Second chances” and “rescues in the nick of time” make great fodder for novelists, but betting your health, indeed your life, on such delusory mythology is a form of mental illness, for many in the later category a lethal form!
