“They mostly come at night”
Rebecca “Newt” Jorden (played by Carrie Henn) in the 1986 feature film, “Aliens II,” staring Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn
An adult black bear wandered into a Dollar General store in Vernon, NJ yesterday and promptly bit a woman. She had to be evacuated and hospitalized.
The bear wandered around the store for a few more minutes but eventually exited. However, once outside she continued to act aggressively and was ultimately shot and killed by local police.
Such “negative interactions” between humans and large predators are occurring in increasing numbers across the nation, no doubt!
“Experts” say that attacks upon humans by bears are “rare”
… that is, until you’re the one attacked. Then, the chances of “being attacked by a bear” instantly become one-hundred percent. “Experts” often overlook this!
Hunting bans, trapping bans, hunter harassment, predator reintroduction, persecution of citizens who shoot threatening animals in legitimate self-defense, are all predictably combining to manufacture this dangerous setting.
Forced “reintroduction” of apex predators (wolves, mountain lions, bears) into areas where they have been long-since eradicated means populations will grow, and citizens will be encountering those same predators with increasing frequency.
Yet today, any citizen who dares “euthanatize” an overtly dangerous predator runs the very real risk of ending-up in prison, particularly in NJ!
My comment:
Ignorance may be bliss, but it’s not a “strategy” one can live by!
Many in that NJ Dollar General store, instead of exiting immediately and getting away, started filming the bear at close range! What kind of people intentionally get that close to a wild bear that “is acting strangely?”
When confronting such imminent lethal threats, “communicate” (also taking videos) should be way down on your priority list!
First on your priority list is either (1) immediately neutralize the threat (via gunfire), or (2) straightaway disengage and separate. Either way, you can communicate (and take photos) after you’ve withdrawn to a relatively safe place.
With regard to the first option, our liberal media has cynically manufactured the myth that serviceable “smart-gun” technology actually exists. A simple device, which can be added to any firearm, will prevent anyone but the legal, adult owner from discharging it, and mandating that this “simple device” be incorporated into every firearm will instantly reduce gun violence.
Rubbish!
Useable “smart-gun technology” does not exist (despite billions squandered to “invent” it). It has never existed. All attempts to create it have failed so completely that no sane person would ever bet his life on some future gun that will claim to incorporate it.
Curiously, in 2002 when NJ’s Democratic “leadership” abortively attempted to mandate “smart guns,” for all NJ citizens, the governor’s bodyguard detail was conspicuously exempted, because the whole thing would be “impractical” for them.
Imagine that!
