“Safe” at home?
Many, probably most, Americans remain blissfully oblivious of the genuine possibility that they will be confronted by lethal “direct harm,” suddenly, without warning, and when they are unprepared.
Many naively assume that being inside their own homes, or on their own property, renders them somehow immune from deadly danger, human or animal, directed or random. Many actually own guns, but for most, such guns are little more than irrelevant symbols, sterile “talismen” that (due to deliberate inaccessibility and/or lack of training on the part of its owner) enjoy no real possibility of providing any authentic shielding from predators.
This delusional notion of arbitrarily-declared “safe places” is reinforced by clueless “experts,” our biased media, and hand-wringing, teeth-gnashing, self-loathing liberal politicians, all of whom insist that Americans who go armed, even when at home, are “paranoid” and “just don’t trust our police.” Curious that these same dips never seem to suggest that keeping fire-extinguishers handy is positive evidence that “you just don’t trust the fire department!” “CCTV cameras and ‘Gun-free Zone’ signs will (mysteriously) protect you,” the same bogus voices regurgitate endlessly, as they they intentionally make it arduous, expensive, and interminable for American citizens to buy guns and to obtain concealed-carry permits.
They go on to pontificate that guns in the home need to be ever unloaded, rendered inert (via cable-locks, trigger-locks), locked-up, and that ammunition also be locked-up separately from locked-up gun(s). In fact, they pass “safe-storage laws” that make it a crime when all your guns are not continuously kept in such a way that speedy access during a security emergency is impossible.
Jeff Cooper put it best: “A gun that is perfectly safe is perfectly useless”
Bureaucrats, even police and F&W executives, often put careers first. Agency funding, individual promotion, quotas (aka: “performance standards”) are all under the influence of woke politics. So, marauding animals and human criminals often receive more sympathy, accommodation, and protection than do threatened citizens.
Thus, with hungry bears, coyotes, pit bulls, as well as VCAs and EDPs running about unhindered, you, even when within your own house, are not as “secure” as you would like to believe. Many among the unprepared are unhappily confronting that reality right now, in some cases for the last time!
We don’t get to know when, where, nor how, we’ll be attacked. We only get to control our state of preparedness.
I ask students who go armed in public, yet disarm themselves the moment they enter their own homes, “What makes your home any safer than anywhere else you’ve been today?”
Don’t allow yourself to be brainwashed by leftist politicians and the leftist media, who only want victims. To them, the more victims the better! The more citizens who continuously think of themselves as helpless victims, the better!
They are not good people, and you can bank on these hypocrites ever portraying private ownership and bearing of arms as “paranoia.” Yet, they all quietly arrange for themselves to live in heavily-armed (with “weapons of war”) castles and are themselves ever surrounded by heavily-armed bodyguards.
