Gun-Free Paradise?

ā€œIs there no virtue among us? If there is not, we are without hope! No form of government, existing or theoretical, will keep us from harm. To think that any government, in any form, will insure liberty and happiness for an dishonorable population represents the height of self-deception. What virtue and intelligence there is will be exercised in the selection of these men. We put no trust in them, nor in any elected official, but rather in the people who select them.ā€

James Madison, 1788

In 1996, with enthusiastic support and encouragement of the UN, the west-African nation of Mali forcibly collected privately-owned guns and burned them in huge, public, symbolic bonfires. While the UN promotes public gun-burning all over the world, Mali is regarded as the greatest success of their gun-burning movement.

These pseudo-sanctimonious ceremonies were cynically entitled ā€œFlames of Peace,ā€ and lying government spokesmen proudly announced that ā€œFlames of Peaceā€ marked the end of perpetual violence that has characterized the nation since its days as a French Colony. Liberals around the world celebrated… prematurely as it turns out!

Mali gained its independence from France in 1960. Since, it has been a typical west-African thug-ocracy.

The liberal ā€œparty lineā€ is that Mail has moved from dissension to never-ending harmony since privately-owned guns were collected and burned, but these dubious claims do not survive even casual scrutiny, as recent events at the Radisson Hotel in Timbuktu have underscored.

Islamic jihadis, apparently failed to attend Malian gun-burning celebrations! Maliā€™s (like Franceā€™s) gun prohibition apparently doesnā€™t apply to them, and obviously never will!

When the UN endorses and promotes forced collection and subsequent burning of privately-owned guns, what does the long-term future hold for innocent gun-owning citizens?

A cornerstone of the liberal/leftist agenda is the production of helpless, defenseless, dependent, fearful, perpetual victims. That is their definition of ā€œcitizen.ā€ Youā€™ll also notice that leftists always arrange it so that gun-prohibitions never apply to them. Hypocrisy is their other cornerstone!

Personal growth, as well as individual liberty and freedom, are impossible without personal security. And, personal security starts with the individual right to keep and bear arms. Nations with a forcibly disarmed citizenry, soon degenerate into violence, crime, and ultimately slavery, as we see.

The unarmed are never safe!

The disarmed are ever-afraid!

ā€œWhen the Cambrian measures were forming, they promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the Wars of the Tribes would cease.
But, when we were disarmed, they sold us and delivered us, bound, to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Heading said: ā€˜Stick with a devil you know.ā€™ā€
